Council Minutes of 12/5/20(16
Central Ohio Building Officials Association, and the Ohio Building Officials
Association. Applications will be accepted for that position until December 20.
• The Cultural Activities Commission will be holding their holiday celebration at
Old Town Hall on Thursday, December 28. The event will include music,
activities, refreshments and a puppet show.
• Bids will be opened for the N. O. Park ADA project on Thursday, December 14.
• The new emergency generator has been installed and is operational at the North
Olmsted Police Station.
• Police Capt. Jamie Gallagher was sworn in on November 22.
• Testing for the vacant Police Lieutenant's position should be completed in late
January.
• Police Sgt. Larry Clute has announced his retirement effective January 3, 2007.
He first started with our department in September of 1980.
• A retirement party for out-going Assistant Building Commissioner Tom
Rymarczyk will be held on Friday, January 5, at the Old Town Hall from 4 to 6
p.m. Please contact Dave Conway for reservations.
• Recent inclement weather did effect the exterior work that is being done on the
front entrance project with some damage that will be addressed as the weather
permits. Specifically, the damage was caused by wind and rain.
• The recent rains also brought the Wastewater Plant crews out to monitor and
manage our system. Even when over two inches of rain fell, no system-related
basement flooding was reported.
• Annual leaf pick-up has begun its final round. Comments made by our citizens
indicate they have been extremely satisfied with the way the pick-up has gone
this year. Congratulations to 3Z and to our Service Dept.
• Fire Station No. 2 upstairs floors have been poured, excavation of the front exit
drive has begun, and masonry work continues.
• The sound walls on I-480 are being taken down by ODOT. We await their
reconstruction soon after the State's new fiscal year begins in July of 2007.
3) He strongly urges the passage of transfer Ordinance 2006-187. Thanks to the
members of the Finance Committee under the direction of chairperson Councilman
Tallon for their consideration and support of that transfer. Regarding Ordinance 2006-
183, during the last Council meeting, he spoke of his disappointment with the conduct of
the Safety Committee meeting on November 14 concerning the CDC. He also objected
to the report of Safety Committee chairperson, Councilman Orlowski, as he felt the
information presented in the report was misleading and inaccurate. Safety Director
Terbrack has since responded to that report highlighting the inaccuracies contained
therein. (Mayor O'Grady requested a copy of Mr. Terbrack's memo be appended to
these minutes.) At the last Council meeting, he commented on what he felt was the
impropriety of Council's Safety Committee inviting city non-management employees to
be present and to comment on management issues. He feels this is damaging to good
government and asked that the practice cease. As he listened to the objections from
Council to joining Central Dispatch, it appears to him those objections seem to be based
upon the facts presented by some of the distortions brought forward, not by his
administration, but by some of our other employees. Those include comments that the
North Olmsted dispatch training was superior to West Com training, and that North
2
