Council Minutes of 11/&/2006 <br />6) A successful leaf raking program took place Saturday. Director John Dailey served <br />refreshments to young people, Kiwanis, and Key Club who helped senior citizens and <br />others who are not able to take care of their property. <br />7) Senior Center will have lifeline screenings on November 29. <br />8) Assistant Building Commissioner Tom Rymarczyk will be retiring effective January <br />11. Police Officer Charles Jandecka will retire on January 12. Network Administrator <br />Sasa Stokic has submitted his resignation effective November 28. <br />9) Ramsey and Associates will be administering the Police Captain's test Saturday, <br />November 11, at 9 a.m, Four candidates will take the test. <br />10) Negotiations will begin tomorrow with the IAFF. <br />11) A recent article in The:. Plain Dealer with regard to the future of the North Olmsted ice <br />rink was very accurate and well stated in that everything is still on the table, everything is <br />being considered. If it makes sense to have ice in a new facility, there will be ice. If it <br />doesn't, there will not. If it makes sense to have 10 indoor tennis courts in a new facility, <br />they will be there. Once the city consultant finalizes a plan and we have a direction, that <br />information will be presented to City Council. <br />12) The Recreation Commission was presented with plans for ADA improvements to <br />North Olmsted Park. The Commission is very supportive of the project. Legislation for <br />bids is on first reading for this project funded through CDBG. <br />13) The city will be submitting the .grant application for ADA assessment next Friday. <br />14) The Fire Dept. provided mutual aid to North Ridgeville on October 25 with a house <br />fire and on October 31 to Fairview Park with a fire in a condo complex. North Olmsted <br />Fire Dept. received mutual aid on November 7 when there was an early morning fire on <br />the 17th floor of the Westbury. <br />15) The VFW will have the annual recognition of police and fire fighter of the year. The <br />dinner to honor Police Det. Bud Branscum and Fire Lt. Jim Dunwoodie will be held on <br />November 21. <br />16) Test agency, Auburn Environmental, has completed their ambient air sampling for <br />paint fumes and volatile organic chemicals. The administration supports the modification <br />of the conditional use permit to extend final testing at Suburban to next summer rather <br />than during this winter. It is believed this will provide a much better measure of what is <br />going on at that location. <br />17) The first Service Dept, night-time call out for snow removal occurred last week. <br />Fleet maintenance and road crew personnei performed exceedingly well. <br />18) Work on the ADA front entrance and caucus roam is progressing. Completion is <br />anticipated soon after the first of the year. <br />19) At the city's request, the State is having the contractor make some adjustments to the <br />Lorain Road paving project. Several ADA ramps were lower than. acceptable and some <br />asphalt was not up to standard. Asphalt has been re-laid and Shelly Co. will continue to <br />make other corrections. Final striping will be done as the asphalt cures. <br />20) Annual leaf pick-up continues and remains on schedule. <br />21) Tire and hazardous material round-up has been completed-304 tires collected in <br />North Olmsted. Of 48 communities, North Olmsted placed 20th in tire collection. <br />22) Fire Station No. 2 concrete return drive has been installed. Weather depending, the <br />asphalt parking lot will be laid this week. Brick on the east wall should be finished, and <br />""~ the front brick work has been started. <br />2 <br />~. ..
