Council Minutes of 10/3/2006
Councilwoman Nicole Dailey Jones. Due to those efforts and with the support of all the
members of Council, we have a commitment from ODOT to build new sound barrier walls
beginning in July of 2007. This will be an inconvenience in the short term for some of our
residents, but it will be a very significant improvement in the long term. We are pleased with
this development.
5) Departments:
• Senior Center will hold Lifeline screenings in the Community Cabin an November 29.
This screening is for strokes, aneurysm, osteoporosis, and peripheral arterial disease.
Screenings cost $45 each and are open to all North Olmsted residents regardless of age.
• In Human Resources, our city earned $15,746+ premium credit through the Bureau of
Workers' Compensation due to participation in the Safety Council discount program.
Congratulations to Director Farver. The center tour led by the CDC
Supervisor, Nick Pishnery, appeared to be very informative to all present
• The construction has begun on the new front entrance at City Ha11. The project will
provide a needed Americans with Disability Act entrance and a needed larger caucus
room for our citizens. The pouring of cement scheduled for today had to be delayed as
what was found when the base was opened up was not on the original plans. It was found
that the base goes a number of feet beyond the depth that was approved in original plans.
Adjustments are being made. We are pleased with the production of Bowen Engineers as
our city engineer as they've come to the aid on this issue.
• The Clague Road reconstruction is moving to a close very quickly. There will be temporary striping on the road. Once the asphalt cures,
they will come back for the final work.
• The annual leaf schedule will be mailed out next week. The first round will begin on
October 16 in Ward 2, weather permitting and the leaves have indeed fallen.
