MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF TIIE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />SEPTEMI~ER S, 20U6 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Gareau, <br />Dailey Jones, Miller, Orlowski, Ryan, Talton <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />Councilman Orlowski made a motion to amend the agenda to remove Ordinance No. <br />2005-158 and to bring it back into committee for further study. The motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Gareau and passed unanimously. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of August 15, 2006 were approved as written. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: second reading, Ordinance No. 2006-146; first reading, <br />Ordinance No. 2006-149 and Resolution No. 2006-152. <br />President Kennedy announced there would be a public hearing on Ordinance No. <br />2006-135 at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2006. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) After many years of service to our community, Police Chief George <br />Ruple has retired. We are in his debt and wish him well in his retirement. Capts. Whelan <br />and Wozniak have completed testing for the Chief s position, and the results are expected <br />in about a week's time. <br />2) Retired police officer Rich Calvitti is in the hospital with heart problems. Please keep <br />him and his family in your thoughts. <br />3) The Board of Control met and selected Dan Collins of Bowen & Associates to serve as <br />the new City Engineer for the City of North Olmsted. Currently, our city Law Dept. is <br />reviewing the contract in preparation for signatures. <br />4) Today he attended a press conferezice at offices of Rep. Dennis Kucinich. At issue <br />was the planned sale of Tops grocery stares which has the potential of affecting over <br />4,000 workers in the greater Cleveland area. Tops and its parent company were called <br />0 <br />
