Mayor O'Grady
asked Mrs. Miles to come forward, and she was congratulated by all of Council and
members of the administration. Mayors from 200 cities were in attendance and some issues
discussed included poverty, transportation and overcrowding.
2) Thanks to the Finance Director who attended a meeting at NASA Glenn in his
absence. The recent changes with NASA Glenn are incredibly important to our
community as our city is second only to Strongsville in the number of employees from
NASA who are residents.
3) The Memorial Day ceremonies were very well attended and were completed with a
very solemn ceremony at North Olmsted Park. Sincere thanks to the Veterans of Foreign
Wars, the Ladies Auxiliary, the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts who helped out, the North
Olmsted High School Marching Band and firefighter Ted Vance who sang God Bless
America at that event. The contributions of our Service Dept., our police and firefighters
made this a memorable ceremony for our veterans and all of our citizens.
4) Clague Road project is progressing very nicely. Most of the sewer work in completed.
The road surface has had its first two sections of concrete poured. The local traffic only
decision that this administration made has been the right one. It has allowed us to do
more work more quickly and more safely that we could have had we allowed continuing
through traffic.
5) Reminder there will be the Career Fair held on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 from 10
a.m. until 2 p.m. in the hall at the Church of St. Clarence.
6) Representatives from the County Auditor's office will be at the Senior Center on
August 15 to answer questions about property taxes.
7) Indians tickets are available for North Olmsted night at Jacob's Field on August 10 vs.
the Angels. All are encouraged to attend. $4 of the $14 face value will be donated to the
USO to benefit service men and women.
2
,~~~r.~:
