MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />APRIL 4, 2(106 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Gareau, <br />Dailey Jones, Miller, Orlowski, Ryan, Tallan <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8:02 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of March 21, 2006 were approved as written. <br />Councilman Gareau made a motion to amend the agenda to add Ordinance 2005-188 on <br />second reading to be passed under suspension of the rule. The motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Barker. Roll call: Gareau, yes; Barker, yes; Jones, yes; Tallon, no; <br />Orlowski, no, with comment noting the legislation had not been addressed in several <br />months. He felt it should go back into committee. Roll call continued: Miller, no; Ryan, <br />no. The motion failed with four no votes and three yes votes. Ordinance No. 2005-188 <br />was not added to the agenda. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: second reading, Resolutions 2006-68, 2006-73, 2006-74. <br />REP©~tTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) Pleased to report the inaugural mayor's ball was a success and raised <br />over $8,000 for charity. The proceeds will benefit the high school art program in their <br />effort to create art work to be permanently displayed at the library and will also benefit <br />the community through the food bank and other services provided by the Department of <br />Community Life Services. Thanks to all city directors and those Council members who <br />attended and to those who made donations. Special thanks to members of the committee <br />who worked so diligently to organize this event. <br />2) With Council sustaining the line item veto of the correction officer in this year's <br />budget, legislation is on the agenda to return those funds that were deleted from the <br />Police budget. Police Chief Ruple is on record as stating that those cuts would have a <br />"major effect" on the operations within his department. Council is asked to move quickly <br />on returning those funds and on the other issues in the transfer ordinance. <br />.,~,.,.F,r..w~.., ~.:.~~ ,,.... <br />
