The minutes
of the special Council meeting of February 16, 2006 were approved as written.
President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage under
suspension of the rules: second reading, Ordinances 2005-177, 2005-178, 2005-179, 2005-180,
2006-1, Resolution 2005-4, Ordinance 2006-12, 2006-15 and Resolution 2006-44; first reading,
Resolutions 2006-51, 2006-52 and Ordinance 2006-60.
Councilman Gareau made a motion to amend the agenda by removing Ordinances 2006-16 and
2006-48. The motion was seconded by Councilman Miller and passed unanimously.
REPORTS
Mayor O'Grady: 1) Apre-construction meeting was held last week with regard to the Clague
Road rehabilitation project. A & J Cement Contractors is going to complete this project and will
begin on Monday, February 17, for 30 days of culvert work. This will close Clague Road. After
the culvert work is completed, the traffic on Clague Road will be one way (southbound) for the
duration of the project. We will do everything in our power to accommodate our residents who
are going to be inconvenienced during this time.
2) He was contacted last week by RTA General Mgr. Joe Calabrese regarding the potential for
fare increase. This is being driven by the cost of fuel.
3) He will meet tomorrow with the Senior Transportation Connection as a board member
appointed by the Cuyahoga County Mayors & Managers Association. Of interest at that meeting
will be the future of STC's call center on our Butternut Ridge property, and a discussion of
Director Nick Schrader's offer of a position in Medina County. Nick is currently the Executive
Director of both the North Olmsted Commission on Paratransit and the First Integrated Regional
Senior Transportation Corporation. Hopefully, 5TC is able to make an offer that keeps him here
in Cuyahoga County.
4) He will be speaking this week at Maple Intermediate School with regard to United States
government and campaigning.
5) Pleased to present his 2006 budget to Council for consideration.
6) Departments-a workplace harassment training sessions for all directors and division heads
will be held on February 23.
7) Fire Station No. 2. He has been in contact with the Olmsted Historical Society and they have
expressed an interest in preserving a couple of the elements of the property in the location where
Fire Station No. 2 will be built. Specifically, they are interested in moving the carriage house
