Council Minutes of 2/7/2006 <br />• ADA doors are installed and operational at the Senior Center. The <br />Ribbon-Cutting was held earlier today, and the doors are very much <br />appreciated by our seniors, especially during winter weather. <br />• Springvale Golf Course has already seen an increase in the scheduling of <br />daytime leagues for the coming year. This is part of an increased <br />marketing effort expected to result in increased rounds played for 2006. <br />Human Resources <br />• IT division changed the Internet service provider; the new provider's <br />service increases the speed far Internet service, and the change also results <br />in a $1,800 annual savings. <br />Planning <br />• Zoning: The Planning Department will start the organizational process to <br />begin reviewing the City's Zoning Code and recommending updates to the <br />Code consistent with recommendations of the 2005 Master Plan. <br />• Front entrance plans have been finalized and are undergoing plans <br />examination before the project is ready for bid. Plans will be available for <br />review by City Council in advance of this project being discussed in <br />committee. <br />• Negotiations with the Metroparks were successful, and there will be a joint <br />access agreement providing a joint access drive for the Metroparks <br />trailhead and Fire Station No. 2. This issue will appear before the <br />Planning & Design Commission for review on February 8th.. <br />Safety <br />• The North Olmsted Police Department has ordered five new cruisers, and <br />the five units that are being replaced will be traded-in. <br />• Attended the first meeting of the Advisory Committee for the new <br />Recreation Master Plan. The attendance of the Mayor, three City <br />Directors, and two members of Council helped emphasize the importance <br />of this effort to our community. <br />Service <br />• The EPA Phase I report was presented to Council during their committee <br />meetings of January 24th. We are now moving into Phase II which is <br />determining which options the City will take to further improve our <br />sanitary system. <br />• This weekend's wet snow provided the Service Department with the <br />opportunity to test the new four-wheel-drive F550 Ford Super Duty diesel <br />truck. This smaller dump truck has more pushing power than our current <br />1 %2 ton Top-Kick dump trucks. It performed excellently, and the 2006 <br />capital plan will include his intent to buy three more this year to replace <br />some of our aging fleet. <br />• The Engineering Department has been operating without a City Engineer <br />for some time. Cathy Becker, the Assistant Engineer, has been doing a <br />great job, but she does need assistance. We are going forward with RFP's <br />to find an engineering firm to provide one of their members to act as City <br />Engineer. In the meantime, we will need someone on an interim basis to <br />2 <br /> <br />
