Agenda items:
• Resolution 2005-187, a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a renewed
one-year service contract for the term January 1, 2006 through December 31,
2006 with TAC Computer Inc. to provide maintenance and repair services for
various computer hardware and software at the Police Department and declaring
an emergency. This is a renewal of a one-year service contract with TAC
Computer Inc. Chief Ruple gave an in-depth explanation of the contract and
information regarding TAC Computer Inc., membership to OLEN (Ohio Law
Enforcement Network). TAC Computer Inc. provides computer hardware and
software maintenance repair services for equipment in the Police Dept. GLEN
provides criminal, license plate, accident, etc. reports. It provides statewide
access to records from all communities. This information is obtained at the
station and the mobile data computers within each patrol car. Several years ago,
Council performed a thorough review of this contract seeking savings and a
review of equipment. Fortunately, required service has always fallen during
normal company working hours, and the department has had very few problems
with the equipment. A limited number of companies are authorized by the State
of Ohio to provide these services due to the sensitive nature of the information.
Since the current contract expired on December 31, 2005 and this is a new
contract, the committee unanimously recommended approval and passage under
suspension of the rule. The committee agreed to add an emergency clause.
Councilman Orlowski moved that Ordinance 2005-187 be amended t

4
