MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />JANUARY 3, 2006 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Dailey Jones, <br />Gareau, Miller, Orlowski, Ryan, Tallon <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of December 6, 2005 were approved as written. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: second reading, Resolution No. 2005-189. <br />President Kennedy announced that a public hearing would be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, <br />January 17, 2006, regarding Ordinance No. 2005-165. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) Happy New Year to all. Thank you to all who attended his <br />inauguration on December 31 and the swearing-in on January 1 of all the other elected <br />officials. Congratulations to our newly elected members of Council and to the directors. <br />He looks forward to working with everyone in the coming year. <br />2) Sincere condolences to the family of Master Sgt. Joseph Andres who lost his life in <br />combat operations in Iraq. His funeral procession will have a police honor escort from <br />Chambers Funeral Home in North Olmsted to St. Columbkille Church in Parma on <br />Thursday. We cannot do enough to thank those who are serving in the armed forces and <br />their families for the sacrifices they are making. <br />3) Departments: <br />Community Life Services <br />• Will begin our benefits check-up program at the Senior Center on January 9 <br />from 12:30 to 3:30. This program is offered through the county and allows <br />senior citizens the opportunity to ensure that they receive the maximum <br />benefit for which they qualify. <br />:~ <br />
