MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED JANUARY 3, 2006 Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Dailey Jones, Gareau, Miller, Orlowski, Ryan, Tallon Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of Council Seman President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes of the Council meeting of December 6, 2005 were approved as written. President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage under suspension of the rules: second reading, Resolution No. 2005-189. President Kennedy announced that a public hearing would be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2006, regarding Ordinance No. 2005-165. REPORTS Mayor O'Grady: 1) Happy New Year to all. Thank you to all who attended his inauguration on December 31 and the swearing-in on January 1 of all the other elected officials. Congratulations to our newly elected members of Council and to the directors. He looks forward to working with everyone in the coming year. 2) Sincere condolences to the family of Master Sgt. Joseph Andres who lost his life in combat operations in Iraq. His funeral procession will have a police honor escort from Chambers Funeral Home in North Olmsted to St. Columbkille Church in Parma on Thursday. We cannot do enough to thank those who are serving in the armed forces and their families for the sacrifices they are making. 3) Departments: Community Life Services • Will begin our benefits check-up program at the Senior Center on January 9 from 12:30 to 3:30. This program is offered through the county and allows senior citizens the opportunity to ensure that they receive the maximum benefit for which they qualify. :~
