..
Council Minutes of 1/3/2006
that point. If there is anything he can do to help Mr. Davison, please call. Councilman
Gareau said he recalled conversations with Mr. Davison over the years and that the
problem was the proposal to implement the mounding and screening along the property
line where it abuts Mr. Davison's property was in conflict with the drainage plan. Where
the church was supposed to put the mound was actually supposed to be a swale. He
offered apologies to Mr. Davison and to Mr. Sheffield from the church. Law Director
Dubelko said Assistant Law Director O'Malley had been providing support and advice to
the city departments on this issue. He will speak to Mr. O'Malley to find out where the
issue stands and suggested Mr. Davison call his office for an update.
John Espersen, 26691 Caton Place, was upset that his son and other high school students
are not being allowed to park in the library parking lot. He has been informed the cars
will be towed and inquired whether the library had the right to tow cars from city
property. It was explained to Mr. Espersen that city has nothing to do with regulating
parking at the library. The Cuyahoga County Library leases the property. It is their
building and their land, and they control it and maintain it. With regard to providing
parking for students, Mr. Espersen should contact the city schools as that is under their
control.
Anna Ford, 5981 Forest Ridge, is concerned about overgrown trees and shrubs which
block the view of motorists at intersections. She is especially concerned about the
northeast corner of Burns Road at the entrance to the high school. Mayor O'Grady
responded that the Safety Director would look into the matter.
Councilman Miller commented for the record that the RTA bus to the Browns Stadium
for the PittsburghlBrowns game never arrived at the Park-n-Ride, causing riders to find
their own way to the stadium. He called RTA General Mgr. Calabrese who assured him
the situation would be corrected. It is his understanding that there was no driver available
on that day.
LEGISLATION
Resolution No. 2005-176 introduced by Councilman Ryan on behalf of himself and
Councilmen Orlowski and Nashar was given its third reading. A resolution requesting
utility companies to try to trim trees in such a way as to fit into their natural setting.
Councilman Ryan moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman
Orlowski and passed unanimously. Resolution No. 2005-176 adopted.
Resolution No. 2005-189 introduced by Mayor O'Grady was given its second reading. A
resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a lease, or amended lease, with Dollar
Leasing Corp., for the purpose of supplying a new copy machine for the City Hall
mailroom, and declaring an emergency. Councilman Tallon moved for suspension of the
rule requiring three readings. The motion was seconded by Councilman Ryan and passed
unanimously. Councilman Tallon moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by
Councilman Ryan and passed unanimously. Resolution No. 2005-189 adopted.
8
~,~
