<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />SEPTEMBER 18, 2007 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Gareau, <br />Dailey Jones, Miller, Orlowski, Ryan, Tallon <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8:03 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of September 4, 2007 were approved as written. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: second reading, Ordinances 2007-104, 2007-105; first <br />reading, Ordinance 2007-107, Resolution 2007-109. <br />President Kennedy announced a public hearing would be held on Ordinance 2007-103 at <br />7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) Our distinguished Safety Director Tom Terbrack will re-retire <br />effective October 31. Although he stepped in to give the administration a helping hand <br />for a short time, he was with us for more than a year and a half. Tom has given many <br />years of service to the community, and he will be missed. His contributions to the city <br />are not over. As need arises, he will be our go-to guy. Thank you very much to Tom for <br />all he has done. <br />2) Welcomed students and teachers visiting from Dusseldorf, Germany. Sixteen students <br />were hosted today in City Hall where they received a tour and were presented with <br />certificates of honorary citizenship. Special recognition to Dr. Doug Sebring who has <br />been escorting the students and to Mrs. Lynn Sebring, a teacher at the high school, who <br />played a significant role in this student exchange. The students from the Goethe <br />Gymnasium in Dusseldorf were accompanied by two teachers, Joachim Noske and <br />Wolfgang Rosnowski. The gentlemen were presented with certificates of honorary <br />citizenship. Mr. Noske expressed thanks for the proclamation and the reception given the <br />students. He noted this is the sixteenth year of the exchange program between the two <br />schools, and he extended warmest thanks on behalf of the principal to all the parents who <br />host the students every year. The hospitality has been second to none. <br />
