<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />AUGUST 7, 2007 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Gareau, Miller, <br />Orlowski, Ryan, Tallon <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Capfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Absent: Council Member Dailey Jones <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of June 19, 2007 were approved as written. The <br />minutes of the special Council meeting of June 26, 2007 were approved as written. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: first reading, Resolution 2007-85. <br />REPORT <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) Welcome back to Council Members. <br />2) There was a significant rain event today with 2.1 inches recorded in the space of one <br />hour's time. The good news for the citizens of the city is the actions taken with regard to <br />dealing with and abating the impact of these kinds of storms has been successful. We <br />had very few and isolated instances of residential flooding, which definitely indicates this <br />is not a systemic problem. It was alocal/individual home issues. Rocky River, <br />Westlake, and Fairview Park had significant flooding issues. We did well and we <br />continue to do well. A number of people from the Wastewater Treatment Plant are in the <br />audience; thanks to them for what they do everyday. <br />2) As promised, the ice rink is back up and in operation. Congratulations to Director <br />John Dailey, Commissioner Ted DiSalvo and the rest of their team on that outstanding <br />effort on this very tired, old facility. <br />3) The annual Homecoming celebration will occur from August 23 to 26. The annual <br />parade will be held on the 26"' at 2 p.m. and all are encouraged to attend. <br />4) The City of North Olmsted will host the AFL/CIO North Shore Federation of Labor, <br />Labor Day parade on Saturday, September 1. It steps off at 10 a.m. from the Middle <br />School and follows the same route used for the Homecoming parade. North Olmsted is a <br />
