MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED MAY 1, 2007 Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Gareau, Dailey Jones, Miller, Orlowski, Ryan, Tallon Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of Council Seman President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes of the Council meeting of April 17, 2007 were approved as written. President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage under suspension of the rules: second reading, Ordinance 2007-43, Resolution 2007-45; first reading, Resolutions 2007-49 and 2007-51. President Kennedy announced that a public hearing would be held for Ordinance 2007-30 at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2007. Councilman Tallon made a motion to amend the agenda by removing Ordinance 2007-38 from second reading and placing it back into committee. The motion was seconded by Councilman Gareau and passed unanimously. REPORTS Mayor O'Grady: 1) A successful annual Mayor's Charity Ball was held on April 21 at Springvale. Thanks to all those who attended. 2) As chairperson of the Westshore Council of Governments last year, he took the lead on commissioning a study for the creation of a Westshore regional fire district. CSU's Levine College produced a proposal for the study that carried a price tag of $42,395. He met recently with Mr. Sam Miller of Forest City Enterprises who has become a champion of the need for regional cooperation, and Mr. Miller will completely fund this study. 3) The cities of North Olmsted and Fairview and the city schools of each city are pleased to be sponsoring the first North Olmsted/Fairview Park Relay for Life event on June 23 and June 24 at North Olmsted High School.
