City Council Minutes of 4/3/2007
5) Encourage all to support the final fish fry of the season at Springvale Clubhouse from
4 to 8 p.m., with an early bird senior special from 4 to 5 p.m.
6) Springvale Golf Course is open. Please come out and support our city-owned golf
course.
7) Recreation Dept. is using a postcard mailer this year to alert citizens to upcoming
events and programs at the Rec Center. This takes the place of mailing out the programs
and is expected to save $15,000 this year.
8) Drug free workplace training for employees and supervisors is currently being
conducted within the city.
9) Family-friendly restrooms at North Olmsted Park are well under way and should be
completed by mid-April. New playground construction will follow and is expected to be
open for use by summer.
10) City currently is evaluating six proposals received for the new economic development
consultant. Hopefully, the selection will be made in April and the consultant will begin
work in May.
11) North Olmsted fire fighters have recently assisted Fairview Park with a restaurant fire
and coordinated and assisted in the rescue of two teenagers from a cliff in the
Metroparks.
12) Ninety applicants took the Civil Service entry-level fire fighter/paramedic test on
March 31, 2007.
13) Asst. Fire Chief Civil Service test has been changed to May 12, 2007.
14) Police entry eligibility Civil Service test (128 applicants) will be verified at the next
meeting of the Civil Service Commission on April 16.
15) Tomorrow at 11:30 a.m., Police officer Simon Cesareo will be sworn in as our newest
Police Sgt.
16) Roof work for Fire Station 1 was completed today. Thanks to City Council for their
support on that issue.
17) Spring street sweeping has begun.
18) Mosquito larvicide helicopter drop in Bradley Woods will take place sometime
between April 10 and April 13.
19) Household hazardous waste round-up will take place April 23 through May 6.
Regarding yard waste, residents should contact the city and schedule a time for the
chipper. Also, if they bundle the branches, they will be picked up immediately by our
regular weekly trash pick-up which saves the city money.
Law Director Dubelko: 1) On March 15, provided a memorandum to Fair Housing
Review Board asking that they appoint Asst. Law Director Heyward the Administrator
for the Fair Housing Review Board. Ms. Heyward has been working with the city far 7-8
months, and she has done an excellent job in fair housing. She has a tremendous
background in it, and it made no sense for him to simply hold the title of Administrator
when she is actually doing the work.
2) March 17, provided legal opinions on the subjects of resignation of elected officials
and longevity. March 26, provided a legal opinion on the subject of restrictive
distribution of documents at public meetings. All are posted on the city's website.
3) The Prosecutor handled 224 cases in March. In 2006, there were 270 cases handled.
Of the cases, 58% were traffic; only 1 trial resulting in an acquittal.
2
