Council Minutes of 3/6/2007 <br />• The ice at the Recreation Center will be taken down this May and brought back up again <br />in July in order to address some maintenance issues. The Recreation Center is already <br />entering into contracts for the late summer and fall ice. <br />• The planning committee for the Fairview Park-North Olmsted Relay for Life will meet <br />on Monday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the North Olmsted Recreation Center. Anyone <br />wishing to become involved in this event should attend the meeting. For more information, <br />contact G L. S. Director John Dailey or North Olmsted co-chair Melissa Meredith. <br />• Thank you to all who supported the annual Garage Sale at the North Olmsted Senior <br />Center. The profit of $2,085 will be spent for senior activities. <br />• Tax assistance for seniors is offered by the AARP at the Senior Center on Wednesdays <br />from February 7 through April 11. Contact the Senior Center for an appointment. <br />Human Resources: <br />• The police sergeant oral assessment test will be held on Saturday, March 10. <br />• The entry level patrol officer exam is scheduled for March 24. Applications are available <br />at City Hall and must be returned by March 8, 2007. <br />• The firefighter/paramedic entry level written exam will be conducted March 31. <br />Applications are available at City Hall and must be returned by March 15. <br />• The Assistant Fire Chief written promotional exam will be administered on Tuesday, <br />April 10, 2007. The Assistant Fire Chief oral assessment will be held on Saturday, April <br />21, 2007. <br />• The entry-level corrections officer exam will be held on Saturday, Apri128, 2007. <br />Planning: <br />• There will be a community presentation on recommendations of the Recreation Master <br />Plan this Thursday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m. at the North Olmsted Middle School auditorium. <br />All are invited to attend to hear the comments of the public. <br />Safety: <br />• A swearing-in ceremony will be held on Monday, March 19, at 10 a.m. for new police <br />officer, Kyle Leonard and possibly a new fire fighter. <br />Service: <br />• Work continues on the Rate and Operation Study for the Waste Water Treatment Plant. <br />He expects it to be completed in May. <br />• Cuyahoga County's work on Stearns Road continues with trees north of Lorain being <br />cleared and the demolition of the old funeral home. The reconstruction of existing Stearns <br />Road will begin in about two weeks, once the utilities have been relocated. Potholes will <br />be repaired this week. <br />• Despite aneight-week delay due to windows, the front entrance project is coming to <br />completion. We should plan on using the new entrance for the next Council meeting. <br />6) Springvale is serving the "best fish fry in town" every Friday during Lent from 4 to 8 <br />p.m. <br />President Kennedy inquired when the ice would be taken down in May as there is the <br />annual ice show that month. Mayor O'Grady said the ice would remain for the ice show <br />and be taken down on May 23. <br />Councilman Barker noted that he had received phone calls from residents regarding the <br />high water bills and the $7 administrative charge. <br />2 <br />
