Council Minutes of 3/6/2007 • The ice at the Recreation Center will be taken down this May and brought back up again in July in order to address some maintenance issues. The Recreation Center is already entering into contracts for the late summer and fall ice. • The planning committee for the Fairview Park-North Olmsted Relay for Life will meet on Monday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m. at the North Olmsted Recreation Center. Anyone wishing to become involved in this event should attend the meeting. For more information, contact G L. S. Director John Dailey or North Olmsted co-chair Melissa Meredith. • Thank you to all who supported the annual Garage Sale at the North Olmsted Senior Center. The profit of $2,085 will be spent for senior activities. • Tax assistance for seniors is offered by the AARP at the Senior Center on Wednesdays from February 7 through April 11. Contact the Senior Center for an appointment. Human Resources: • The police sergeant oral assessment test will be held on Saturday, March 10. • The entry level patrol officer exam is scheduled for March 24. Applications are available at City Hall and must be returned by March 8, 2007. • The firefighter/paramedic entry level written exam will be conducted March 31. Applications are available at City Hall and must be returned by March 15. • The Assistant Fire Chief written promotional exam will be administered on Tuesday, April 10, 2007. The Assistant Fire Chief oral assessment will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007. • The entry-level corrections officer exam will be held on Saturday, Apri128, 2007. Planning: • There will be a community presentation on recommendations of the Recreation Master Plan this Thursday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m. at the North Olmsted Middle School auditorium. All are invited to attend to hear the comments of the public. Safety: • A swearing-in ceremony will be held on Monday, March 19, at 10 a.m. for new police officer, Kyle Leonard and possibly a new fire fighter. Service: • Work continues on the Rate and Operation Study for the Waste Water Treatment Plant. He expects it to be completed in May. • Cuyahoga County's work on Stearns Road continues with trees north of Lorain being cleared and the demolition of the old funeral home. The reconstruction of existing Stearns Road will begin in about two weeks, once the utilities have been relocated. Potholes will be repaired this week. • Despite aneight-week delay due to windows, the front entrance project is coming to completion. We should plan on using the new entrance for the next Council meeting. 6) Springvale is serving the "best fish fry in town" every Friday during Lent from 4 to 8 p.m. President Kennedy inquired when the ice would be taken down in May as there is the annual ice show that month. Mayor O'Grady said the ice would remain for the ice show and be taken down on May 23. Councilman Barker noted that he had received phone calls from residents regarding the high water bills and the $7 administrative charge. 2
