Results will be provided this week by
the consultant and will be presented to the Civil Service Commission on Jan. 22.
• Five candidates will be tested on Jan. 18 for the position of Network
Administrator. Based on test results, qualified candidates will be interviewed the
week of January 22, and we hope to have a new Network Administrator in place
by early February.
• ACrocker-Stearns corridor public meeting will be held on Monday, February 19,
at 7 p.m. at N. O. High School cafetorium. The city's consultant will be
presenting recommendations. This meeting deals with the design and re-
development of that area, and we are soliciting feedback from the public.
Members of City Council and other elected officials are encouraged to attend as
observers. The Cuyahoga County Engineer, responsible for actual construction,
will make a presentation to our citizens at 7 p.m. on January 31 at the Community
Cabin. This will deal with mechanics-what is happening when in the actual
construction of the roadway.
• Six bids were opened for the Great Northern Blvd. project. Originally, the city
was to be responsible for paying for this project which was projected to cost about
$1.5 million. He is proud to say through efforts working with the Cuyahoga
County Engineer's office, the Ohio Dept. of Transportation and others, the city's
participation will be on the order of $200,000.
• Will meet this Friday to review the nine companies who responded with proposals
for the EPA Phase II project.
7) He is not pleased the front entrance is not yet done. We have had delays caused by the
arrival of glass. Until the glass is in place, we can't do other parts of the project for fear
of damage. The city continues to work with Apex Construction and with subcontractors
to speed the process along.
8) We had two significant rainfalls over the past weekend. Prior to this weekend's rain,
precipitation for the month of January had surpassed the average. The ground is
saturated, which is a major concern for all municipalities. We are doing well, the WWTP
and Service staffs should be commended on the efforts that have kept our basements dry
despite this rainfall.
9) Wants to call attention of City Council to two issues. One, the streets plan. The
sooner the administration gets that back, the sooner action can be taken. Holding the
streets plan will have an adverse affect on the price we can expect to get to have
reconstruction of the streets. Second, is Ordinance 2006-202, which deals with the plan to
bring in an economic development consultant. This is an issue of timeliness so the city
can more quickly do the things we need to do in the city in the area of economic
development.
3
