City Council Minutes of 1/16/2007 <br /> <br />Commission. The motion was seconded by Councilman Ryan and passed <br />unanimously. <br />• Six candidates were interviewed for one position on the Recreation Commission <br />to be chosen by City Council. All six candidates presented impressive resumes <br />and, most of all, a sincere desire to serve on this commission and to preserve and <br />promote the recreation facilities of North Olmsted. He is very pleased there were <br />so many residents interested in this one position. Unfortunately, we have only <br />one open position at this point in time. He is personally asking the individuals <br />who are not selected for this position to remain active in the city and please seek a <br />position on another board or commission. The knowledge and experience of the <br />many applicants for this position aze enormous, and Council appreciates the <br />energy, strength and help which these residents can bring to our city. These <br />residents can always attend the Recreation Commission meetings and express <br />their opinion and concerns on the various issues. The six candidates for the <br />position were Terry Groden, Donna Smeal, Christopher Scazl, Doug Klimkowicz, <br />Tim Ulewicz and Brian Gorris II. At the request of the Intra-Governmental <br />Committee chairman, no committee recommendations have been made for this <br />position. Nominations on the floor of Council will be made with voting to follow. <br />Council President Kennedy opened the floor for nominations. Councilman Ryan <br />nominated Christopher Scazl for the position on the Recreation Commission for <br />the term of January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2011. There were no further <br />nominations. Roll call: Mr. Ryan, yes for Mr. Scarf; Mr. Orlowski, yes for Mr. <br />Scarf; Mr. Miller, yes for Mr. Scarf; Mrs. Jones, yes for Mr. Scarf; Mr. Gareau, <br />yes for Mr. Scarf; Mr. Barker, yes for Mr. Scarf, Mr. Tallon, yes for Mr. Scarf. <br />Mr. Scarf was unanimously approved as a member of the Recreation Commission. <br />Mr. Scarf, who was in the audience, was asked to-stand and be recognized. <br />At the request of President Kennedy, Councilman Orlowski stated the terms for the <br />approved members of the various boards and commissions: Marty Sammon for Tax <br />Incentive Review Council, 1/1/07 to 12/31/08; Tony Sray for Tax Incentive Review <br />Council, 1/1/07 to 12/31/07; B. J. Meder, for Board of Building Code Appeals, 1/1/06 to <br />12/31/09, completing the term of Philip Engoglia; Robert Lipcsey for Board of Building <br />Code Appeals, 1/1/07 to 12/31/11; Robert Menser for Board of Zoning Appeals, 1/1/OS to <br />12/31/09, completing the term of John Maloney; Beth Roshetko for Community Life <br />Services Advisory Board, 1/1/04 to 12/31/08, completing the term of Frank O'Dell; Don <br />Rerko for Planning & Design Commission, 1/1/06 to 12/31/10, completing the term of <br />Mark Yager; John Herwick for Landmarks Commission, 1/1/07 to 12/31/08; Dale <br />Thomas for Landmarks Commission, 1/1/07 to 12/31/08; Christopher Scarf for <br />Recreation Commission (City Council appointment), 1/1/07 to 12/31/1 1. <br />Council Member Nicole Dailey Jones, chairperson of the Streets & Transportation <br />Committee: 1) The committee met on Tuesday, January 1.0.
