MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED DECEMBER 16, 2008 Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Gareau, Dailey Jones, Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski, Ryan Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of Council Seman President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8:02 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes of the Council meeting of December 2, 2008 were approved as written. President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage under suspension of the rules: second reading, Ordinance 2008-161, Resolution 2008-163; first reading, Resolution 2008-165. President Kennedy announced that a public hearing would be held with regard to Ordinance No. 2008-131 at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2009. President Kennedy wished all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Councilman Kearney made a motion to amend the agenda to add Ordinance Nos. 2008-159 and 2008-160 to the agenda. The motion was seconded by Councilman Gareau. Roll call: Kearney, yes; Gareau, yes; Ryan, no; Orlowski, yes; Barker, yes, Mahoney, yes; Jones, yes. The motion passed with six yes votes and one no vote. Councilman Ryan said he wanted to note for the record that he had traveled to Columbus yesterday to witness the convening and the carrying-out of the electoral college here in Ohio. He was the guest of resident Jim Cotner and said everyone should be proud Mr. Cotner was one of only 18 people in the state to participate in the proceedings and who voted for Barack Obama. RED Mayor O'Grady: 1) After almost 30 years of waiting, County Engineer Klaiber, Westlake Mayor Clough, and he will open the new Crocker-Steams roadway on December 18 at 10:30 a.m. The project was ahead of schedule and under budget.
