<br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />OCTOBER 21, 2008 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Bazker, Gareau, <br />Dailey Jones, Keazney, Mahoney, Orlowski, Ryan <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: second reading, Resolutions 2008-115, 2008-116, 200$- <br />125, 2008-126; first reading, Resolutions 2008-133, 2008-134, 2008-136. <br />President Kennedy announced that the first Council meeting in November would be held <br />on Wednesday, November 5, due to the election. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) Today was the city's second visit coordinated by the Cleveland <br />Council of World Affairs as he hosted Mr. Lukas Maztinek, External Relations Mgr. from <br />the city of Hradec Kralove in the Czech Republic, who met with several administrators. <br />2) Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made anon-campaign stop at one of the city's eleven group <br />homes. The visitors and guests of the Michael T. George Home of the Welcome House <br />were glad to have the national spotlight shone upon this important issue. We as a <br />government and as a people need to continue efforts to allow all people, regardless of <br />their disability, to live life to the fullest. <br />3) Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher also visited our town this past week. Along with Planning <br />Director Wenger and State Rep. Jennifer Brady, he escorted the Lt. Gov. in a visit to a <br />North Olmsted business. This was a very good study of local business and how both local <br />and state government should be involved in coordinating with them. <br />4) The ribbon cutting for the North Olmsted Branch Library enhancements occurred on <br />October 10. Thanks to all who were able to attend. <br />5) Senior Fest held last week was a great success. He encourages Council to reconsider <br />allowing these type of activities to occur at the Springvale facility at cost. <br />6) Citizens will be assisted in completing Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) <br />applications on Thursday, the 23, from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Appointments are required <br />and can be made at the Senior Center or Community Life Services office. <br />
