Public Hearing, Ordinance No. 2008-117
October 7, 2008
neighbors' properties and the area is already saturated in the spring and fall. In past
meetings they've been assured that, if this is rezoned, the retention pond, the soil, and the
pipe will be built and working before any construction or clear cutting begins. During heavy rains and immediately after, the
sewers become flooded and overloaded. It is her yard where the manhole cover exists
that has been bolted down. Before it was bolted down, during the pressure increase it had
been known to fly off into a geyser of raw sewage in her yard. She appreciates that the
raw sewage is no longer in her yard, but the problem still exists and it's just now hidden.
The existing sanitary sewer is sufficient when utilized properly, but the city needs to
address and correct all of the illegal connections which are allowing all the storm water
into the sewer before adding onto it. Heavy rains should not be affecting the sanitary
sewer as they do, and this problem has existed here for numerous years without the
proper solution. It is now crucial to her to be corrected before adding on these homes.
She is against the spot rezoning, and she hopes that the Council will take the residents'
concerns into consideration.
President Kennedy concluded the public hearing of Ordinance 2008-117 at 7:30 p.m.
..~ iYt
~~
:'Barbara L.
