~"r 6"~ <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING 4F THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />SEPTEMBER 16, 2008 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Gareau, <br />Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski, Ryan <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Absent: Council Member Dailey Jones <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of September 2, 2008 were approved as written. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: second reading, Ordinance 2008-109, Resolution <br />2008-114; first reading Resolution 2008-119. <br />President Kennedy announced that a public hearing would be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, <br />October 7, with regard to Ordinance No. 2008-117. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) Annual Mayor's charity ball will be held on Saturday, September 27. <br />This event raises funds for worthy charities and causes in our city and in the larger <br />community. Everyone is encouraged to attend. <br />2) As a member of the Board of the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency, <br />NOACA, he voted this past week to approve emergency funding for public transit in <br />northeast Ohio. Thanks to Gov. Ted Strickland for his vision on this issue, and he is <br />proud to be part of a solution that will add over $9 million to the Greater Cleveland RTA <br />and result in much reduced changes to routes. <br />3) As a member of the Board of the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council, NOPEC, he <br />voted last week to approve a letter of intent with Florida Power and Light, through which <br />we can expect to see even greater savings for those electric customers who are <br />participants in NOPEC. Also, NOPEC has recently locked in low rates for natural gas <br />customers through next summer. <br />4) As he is on the board for both the Cuyahoga County Senior Transportation Connection <br />and the North Olmsted Council on Paratransit, he is recusing himself from discussions on <br />t <br />
