<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />AUGUST 19, 2008 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Gareau, <br />Dailey Jones, Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski, Ryan <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Clerk of Council Seman <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of August 5, 2008 were approved as written. The <br />minutes of the special Council meeting of August 11, 2008 were approved as written. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: second reading, Ordinances 2008-92, 2008-93, 2008-94, <br />2008-98; Resolutions 2008-97 and 2008-99. <br />President Kennedy asked for a moment of silence in memory of Zachery Haberek who <br />recently passed away in a swimming accident. Zachery was a graduate of Maple School <br />and was to begin classes at the Junior High School. <br />RED <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) Presented a proclamation to North Olmsted fire fighters in <br />recognition of their support of the Muscular Dystrophy Association through their "Fill the <br />Boot" campaign and the annual "Cruise In" car show. During the past 20 years, they <br />have raised over $100,000 for Muscular Dystrophy. The Mayor commended them for <br />their efforts on behalf of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and proclaimed August 19, <br />2008 as North Olmsted Fire Fighter Day. <br />2) On behalf of our citizens, he attended the wake for Zachery Haberek and expressed <br />condolences to the family. <br />3) The annual Mayor's Charity Ball will be held on Saturday, September 27. This event <br />raises funds for worthy charities and causes in our city and in the larger community. <br />Invitations will be going out later this week. Contact his office for more information. <br />4) Thanks to the efforts of Gov. Ted Strickland, the proposed RTA route cuts and fair <br />increases are currently on hold. Gov. Strickland has asked the state's land planning <br />agencies to find unspent dollars under federal programs aimed at easing traffic congestion <br />and improving air quality. Locally the Northeast Ohio Areawide Ccwrdinating Agency <br />(NOACA), and other state agencies are looking to put together funds that should address <br /> <br />
