He
salutes Dr. Doug Sebring, Asst. Superintendent of Schools, for his tireless efforts in
support of the Fulbright program and to bring these distinguished educators to the city of
North Olmsted. It's an excellent program. As has
been previously reported, certain comments by elected officials. did cause damage to the
process at a critical time. That was unfortunate. However, useful comments from our
citizens, reflected a great concern regarding the proposed partnership with the YMCA.
For his part, he is proud to have pursues that partnership. Partnerships are innovative,
and they are necessary if we are to do more with less. His administration remains
committed to enhancing the recreational assets throughout our community. These are
needed not just to serve the recreational needs- of our citizens, but also to enhance
economic development and improve the value of our homes. He will continue to look for
partnerships as the recreation process continues. It has not stopped; it is continuing. He
specifically and publicly invites the North Olmsted City Schools to join in the discussion
as we continue to serve our mutual residents in mutual interests. Thanks to Community
Life Services Director Dailey, Planning Director Wenger, and Asst. Law Director
Heyward for their assistance in this process. Without their dedicated efforts, we could
not have been moving forwazd as we have been with this planning. Thanks to Finance
Director Copfer and Law Director Dubelko who aze to be commended far their efforts to
present and analyze options after the decision was made by the administration not to
partner with the YMCA.
3) A Nintendo Wii game system has been purchased for the North Olmsted Senior Center
with proceeds donated by students of the North Olmsted Middle School cross-country
team.
4) The second annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life in North Olmsted is
scheduled for June 21 and 22 at North Olmsted High School track.
