Council Minutes of 5/20/2008 <br />Resolution No. 2008-78 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. <br />A resolution authorizing the Director of Planning to proceed with negotiations for the <br />sale of city-owned real property located on Butternut Ridge Road, identified as <br />Permanent Parcel Number 236-19-005 and consisting of a vacant lot zoned for residential <br />use; further authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contract to sell the real property; and <br />declaring an emergency. <br />Resolution No. 2008-79 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. <br />A resolution authorizing the Chief of Police to apply for Law Enforcement Grant funds <br />from the State of Ohio for Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) for fiscal 2008- <br />2009 and, if the application is granted further authorizing the Mayor to enter into an <br />agreement with the State of Ohio, or the appropriate State of Ohio law enforcement <br />agency, to accept said grant funding on behalf of the city, and declaring an emergency. <br />Resolution No. 2008-80 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. <br />A resolution extending for an additional one year period the city's contract with <br />Silverlode Consulting Corp. for the purpose of providing economic development <br />consulting services to the city, and declaring an emergency. <br />Ordinance No. 2008-81 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. <br />An ordinance amending Section 135.06 ("Petty Cash Fund") of the Administrative Code <br />in order to increase the authorized funds in the cash drawer in the Finance Department, <br />and declaring an emergency. Councilman Gareau moved for suspension of the rules <br />requiring three readings and committee review. The motion was seconded by Councilman <br />Kearney and passed unanimously. Ordinance No. 2008-81 <br />adopted. <br />Ordinance No. 2008-82 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. <br />An ordinance amending Sections 1701.01, 1701.04, 1701.10, and 1701.13 of Chapter <br />1701 (Fire Code) of the Fire Prevention Code in order to incorporate changes in the Ohio <br />Fire Code, specifically for certification of fire safety inspectors and contractors, and to <br />add fees for fire safety inspections. <br />Ordinance No. 2008-83 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. <br />An ordinance providing for the submission to the electors of the City of North Olmsted of <br />an amendment to paragraph (a) of Article III, Section 5 to eliminate the Charter <br />requirement that appointments and removals of department heads by the Mayor be <br />subject to the consent or approval of City Council; and declaring an emergency. <br />Ordinance No. 2008-84 was introduced and placed on first reading by Mayor O'Grady. <br />An ordinance providing for the submission to the electors of the City of North Olmsted of <br />amendments to Article III, Section 5, and Article V, Sections 1, 4, 5, and 6 of the Charter <br />of the City of North Olmsted to grant authority to the Mayor to create, eliminate, and/or <br />merge departments headed by appointed directors; to further grant to the Mayor the <br />exclusive authority to assign duties to the appointed directors; to further abolish the <br />17 <br /> <br />
