Council Minutes of 3/5/2008 <br />same way that we do the North Olmsted City Schools for their buses. The surcharge for <br />this would be 20 cents per gallon on top of what we pay, which would be used for any <br />costs we might incur. The committee upon discussion recommended approval by a vote <br />of 3-0. There was a request that there be a suspension of the rule because of the <br />continuation of the service and providing fuel for such an important need. The legislation <br />is on second reading this evening. <br />Councilman Ryan, chairperson of the Intra-Governmental Relations Committee: 1) The <br />committee met this evening at 7 p.m. to consider Resolution 2008-23. Representative <br />from the Law Dept., Mr. O'Malley, indicated there was a request to re-work a portion of <br />the legislation itself-the way it would be read. At that time, there was discussion had <br />concerning it. Input was given by several people there, including the Mayor. The <br />committee voted unanimously voted to hold the legislation in committee. <br />Council Member Dailey Jones, chairperson of the Streets & Transportation Committee: <br />1) She has been fielding a lot of phone calls and working with the Service Director over <br />the last few weeks regarding snow removal issues on our city streets. <br />2) She would like to remind everyone that next month is Fair Housing Month, not only <br />here in North Olmsted, but across the country. The City of North Olmsted, through the <br />Fair Housing Review Board, will be holding a few events in the upcoming months, which <br />she hopes to have some dates at the next Council meeting to report. The Board is trying <br />to get together a session on predatory lending for residents. Also, they were contacted by <br />Heights Community Congress, which is a collaboration of University Hts., Cleveland <br />Hts. cities who received a federal grant to go into communities and hold public sessions <br />on issues like fair housing. They would like to hold two sessions here in the city within <br />the next few months. She is happy to report that our fair housing program is reaching <br />beyond the borders of North Olmsted as well, and she is looking forward to working with <br />everyone on those events. <br />Councilman Kearney, chairperson of the Public Safety, Health & Welfare Committee: 1) <br />The committee met on Tuesday, February 26, at 6:55 p.m. and adjourned at 6:59 p.m. <br />Present was all of Council, the Law Director and the Mayor. On the agenda was a <br />transfer of liquor license from the Kashmir Palace, 26703 Brookpark Ext., to Flavors of <br />India. The committee voted 3-0 to not object. Councilman Kearney made a motion to <br />not object to the liquor permit transfer from Kashmir Palace, 26703 Brookpark Ext., to <br />Flavors of India. The motion was seconded by Councilman Orlowski and passed <br />unanimously. <br />Councilman Mahoney, chairperson of the Recreation, Public Parks & Buildings <br />Committee: 1) The committee met on Tuesday, February 26, at 7 p.m. Fresent were the <br />Mayor, Law Director, Community Life Services Director, and all of Council. On the <br />agenda was Resolution 2008-35, a resolution, sponsored by the Mayor, authorizing the <br />Mayor to accept a donation of skate board half-pipe ramps, consisting of four quarter <br />pipes on each side, from Ted Vovos for use at the North Olmsted Skate Park only. The <br />Community Life Services Director explained that these half-pipes were formerly at a park <br />in Bay Village, and they were no longer being used by Bay Village.
