This is a renewal of
the service contract for the software and systems for the Police
Department computers. The contract remains substantially the same as the
previous contract, and the price is within a few hundred dollars. It was
explained this is really a niche market, and we have one provider. The
service has been good, and the users are satisfied with the service. After
discussion, the committee unanimously recommended , approval by
Council. Suspension was requested.
• Resolution 2007-151, a resolution authorizing the Director of Public
Service to advertise for bids for diesel fuel and gasoline products for use
by the City of North Olmsted as per specifications now on file in his
office; and authorizing the Mayor to contract for same; and declaring an
emergency. The Service Director advised that this is the means by which
we receive our annual fuel contract. As we go out to bids again, we will
have an option for regular, premium and diesel fuel, which is not what we
had done before. We had previously bid for premium, and didn't have a
regular spec. We'll also have a provision for bio-fuel options which could
lower costs. It was explained that the pricing mechanism is an OPEC
standard for the Midwest, which means the price is how much the
applicant is willing to provide fuel to the city in excess of the fluctuating
OPEC standard pennies over that amount. Whoever has the best price
will be selected by Board of Control. Mr. Limpert advised that bulk
purchasing through our program was not feasible. After discussion, the
committee unanimously recommended approval by Council. No
suspension was requested.
5
