<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />SEPTEMBER 15, 2009 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Brossard, <br />Gareau, Dailey Jones, Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of September 1, 2009 were approved as written. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: second reading, Ordinance 2009-101; first reading, <br />Resolutions 2009-107, 2009-108, 2009-110, 2009-111, and Ordinance 2009-114. <br />President Kennedy announced that a public hearing would be held at 7 p.m. on October <br />27 for Ordinances 2009-86 and 2009-100 regarding wind energy. <br />President Kennedy introduced former Police Chief Taylor to make a presentation from <br />the Ohio Police Chief's Association. <br />Mayor O'Grady asked everyone to remember and thank our real American heroes-those <br />people who have served in the armed forces of the United States. Also remember our <br />hometown heroes-our police officers and fire fighters who put it on the line for us every <br />day. In North Olmsted, we are blessed with outstanding safety forces. He said Chief <br />Wozniak will join him and Chief Taylor, and the presentation will be in remembrance of <br />two fantastic police chiefs in North Olmsted. These plaques will be displayed in the <br />North Olmsted Police Department. Chief Taylor is a tireless advocate on behalf the guys <br />wearing the uniforms today and the officers who have worn them in the past. The Mayor <br />asked everyone to join him in recognizing Chief Taylor. <br />Former Police Chief Taylor made a presentation on behalf of the Ohio Retired Police <br />Chiefs Association to recognize former Chief George Christman and former Chief Harry <br />Hird. He presented two plaques to be displayed in the North Olmsted Police Department. <br />Chief George H. Christman served the North Olmsted Police Dept. starting in 1928 as <br />Marshall. He was appointed as the first city Chief of Police in 1941, and served for 25 <br />years as Chief. Chief Harry H. Ilird served with the North Olmsted Police Department <br />~,~ <br />
