<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />SEPTEMBER 1, 2009 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Brossard, <br />Gareau, Dailey Jones, Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of August 18, 2009 were approved as written. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: second reading, Ordinances 2009-95 and 2009-96. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) The North Olmsted Homecoming was a great success despite the <br />weather. Thanks to all who made it so. Notably, thank you to Zergott Landscaping who <br />did a fantastic job on the big tent and to the many other North Olmsted businesses who <br />donated towards this effort. Thank you to the elected and appointed city officials who <br />assisted with our 100th birthday party and a cake and ice cream celebration. Special <br />recognition on that event to Director Wenger and especially secretary Tricia Granfors <br />who really went to great efforts to make that a success. <br />2) Work on the 2010 budget continues with departments now beginning to formulate <br />their final submissions for proposals within the framework provided by the Finance <br />Director. The administration's intent is to bring the budget to Council in November <br />instead of December. <br />3) Labor Day occurs next Monday. We send congratulations as a city to all those who <br />provide labor and provide those resources that make our country such a great success. <br />4) The Community Life Services Dept. drive for school supplies was a tremendous <br />success with donations from local churches and the North Olmsted Kiwanis. We <br />provided supplies to 172 needy `students from 67 different North Olmsted families. <br />Thank you to all who supported this event, and special thanks to director Dailey of the <br />Community Life Services Dept. and especially secretary Joanne Hanna for her efforts in <br />organizing this very worthy effort. <br /> <br />
