<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />AUGUST 4, 2009 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Brossard, <br />Dailey Jones, Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Absent: Councilman Gareau <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8:02 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center <br />Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of June 16, 2009 were approved as written. The minutes of the <br />special Council meeting of June 23, 2009 were approved as written. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage under <br />suspension of the rules: second reading, Resolutions 2009-69, 2009-83; first reading, Resolutions <br />2009-85, 2009-90. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) The third annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life was a great success <br />and generated close to $75,000. It three years, over $250,000 has been raised for the American <br />Cancer Society for its research and its programs. Thanks from the city to chairwoman Melissa <br />Meredith and Director Dailey. <br />2) AT&T has decided not to proceed with the proposed cell tower located near Root Road. They <br />decided to focus on other sites. <br />3) The Westshore Council of Governments is a finalist in the Fund for Our Economic Future <br />competition where we could be awarded up to $100,000, which will be applied towards our regional <br />fire district study. We are the only entry selected from Cuyahoga County, and at the last rating we <br />had climbed from fourth place into first place. The top three finishers will receive awards. The <br />announcement will be made on August 6. <br />4) The North Olmsted Senior Center has been host to mobile farmer's markets through the Western <br />Reserve Area Agency on Aging. We have received very positive feedback from our residents. Four <br />more events are scheduled for this month on Tuesdays from 12:30 to 2 p.m. This market is open to <br />all North Olmsted residents and is held at North Olmsted Park. <br />5) The Cultural Activities Commission and the Kiwanis Club will hold its second annual juried art <br />festival, Sunday, August 9, at the Frostville Museum between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. All are welcome, <br />and the admission is free. <br />
