<br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MAY 19, 2009 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Brossard, <br />Gareau, Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />Absent: Council Member Dailey Jones <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of May 6, 2009 were approved as written. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: second reading, Ordinances 2009-56, 2009-58; first <br />reading, Resolution 2009-61. <br />President Kennedy congratulated Council Member Nicole Dailey Jones on the birth of <br />her daughter Sarah Donna who was born on Monday. <br />REP <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) Congratulated Nicole Dailey Jones, her husband and entire family on <br />the birth of their daughter Sarah. <br />2) Westshore Council of Governments continued its interviews last week for a firm to <br />study the potential for a Westshore regional fire district. It is expected a firm will be <br />selected within the next 30 days. <br />3) Memorial Day ceremonies will be held on Monday, May 25, beginning at City Hall at <br />8 a.m. with the flag raising and followed by visits to each of our cemeteries to pay respect <br />to our fallen veterans. At 10:30 a.m., a parade steps off from the City Hall complex to <br />North Olmsted Park for a ceremony to dedicate a new monument and the flag area as <br />North Olmsted Veterans Plaza. Thanks for making this possible to VFW Post 7647, <br />Mayor's charity ball, Boss Concrete, Chambers Funeral Home, and Milano monuments. <br />4) On June 6, a memorial run for Nick Rauser will be held. Nick was a student from <br />North Olmsted High School who was tragically killed in a fluke automobile accident. It <br />is a great loss to his family, but the family is using this tragedy to bring about good by <br />sponsoring a one mile walk and five kilometer run through the Bretton Ridge <br />,~~;..~~~: mu~t,~~d <br />
