MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED MAY 6, 2009 Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Brossard, Gareau, Dailey Jones, Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of Council Seman President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The minutes of the Council meeting of April 21, 2009 were approved as written. President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage under suspension of the rules: second reading, Resolutions 2009-51, 2009-52, 2009-54; first reading, Resolution 2009-57. Councilman Mahoney made a motion to amend the agenda by removing Resolution 2009-45 and placing it back into committee. The motion was seconded by Council Member Dailey Jones and passed unanimously. RE- Mayor O'Grady: 1) Wished everyone a belated Happy Cinco DiMayo. Congratulated all those who stood as candidates in yesterday's elections. He respects the decision of the voters, and he is honored to have served for the past 14 years in elective office in North Olmsted. The O'Grady administration will continue with good works over the remainder of this year and will work diligently to assure a smooth transition to the next administration. 2) Last night he attended the National Honor Society induction at North Olmsted High School. The ceremony was interrupted by an electrical fire and will be rescheduled. He commends the leadership of the schools for their calm and professional handling of the situation. He commends the efficiency and professionalism of our police and fire forces who responded. Our hometown heroes were again great. 3) The Citizen of the Year banquet was held on Thursday, Apri123, at the North Olmsted Party Center. Congratulations to Donna Smeal for her selection as the year's honoree. Thanks to her and all past Citizens of the Year for the contributions that have made to our community.
