<br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MAY 6, 2009 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Brossard, <br />Gareau, Dailey Jones, Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of April 21, 2009 were approved as written. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: second reading, Resolutions 2009-51, 2009-52, 2009-54; <br />first reading, Resolution 2009-57. <br />Councilman Mahoney made a motion to amend the agenda by removing Resolution <br />2009-45 and placing it back into committee. The motion was seconded by Council <br />Member Dailey Jones and passed unanimously. <br />RE- <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) Wished everyone a belated Happy Cinco DiMayo. Congratulated all <br />those who stood as candidates in yesterday's elections. He respects the decision of the <br />voters, and he is honored to have served for the past 14 years in elective office in North <br />Olmsted. The O'Grady administration will continue with good works over the remainder <br />of this year and will work diligently to assure a smooth transition to the next <br />administration. <br />2) Last night he attended the National Honor Society induction at North Olmsted High <br />School. The ceremony was interrupted by an electrical fire and will be rescheduled. He <br />commends the leadership of the schools for their calm and professional handling of the <br />situation. He commends the efficiency and professionalism of our police and fire forces <br />who responded. Our hometown heroes were again great. <br />3) The Citizen of the Year banquet was held on Thursday, Apri123, at the North Olmsted <br />Party Center. Congratulations to Donna Smeal for her selection as the year's honoree. <br />Thanks to her and all past Citizens of the Year for the contributions that have made to our <br />community. <br />
