<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />APRIL 7, 2009 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Brossard, <br />Gareau, Dailey Jones, Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Law Director Dubelko, Finance Director Copfer, Clerk of <br />Council Seman <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8:03 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of March 17, 2009 were approved as written. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: second reading, Ordinance 2009-35 and Resolution Nos. <br />2009-36 and 2009-41; first reading, Resolution Nos. 2009-42, 2009-43, 2009-46, and <br />2009-48. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) Welcomed new library branch manager Kacie Armstrong. <br />2) Introduced four new CERT graduates: <br />Catherine Brennan, a teacher, ID No. 2 <br />Mr. Jody Chapek, an employee of Dominion East Ohio Gas, ID No. 12. <br />Ms. Jodi Chapek, a physician's assistant, ID No. 19. <br />Jillian Hauenstein, a school guidance counselor, ID No. 20. <br />Each of these people has volunteered their time and their talents to make our community- <br />abetter place. <br />3) The rebuilding of Stearns Road from I-480 south and of Dover Center Road will cause <br />inconvenience to residents of those areas, but the city will have a spectacular series of <br />roadways once those efforts are done. On Monday, April 13, traffic going from Hastings <br />Drive onto Stearns Road will be cut off for approximately two to three weeks. People <br />who wish to exit from Bretton Ridge north will need to go out Christman Drive onto <br />Lorain Road. <br />4) Although our efforts at attracting Federal stimulus funds has been much maligned of <br />late, he is proud to report a success. The northeast Ohio area was, with one project in <br />particular, awarded $200 million in federal stimulus dollars that will be used to repair the <br />existing inner-belt bridge going into Cleveland, and to build a new span. He met with <br />Governor Strickland and just a few other mayors, and by far our city population-wise was <br />
