<br />MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />MARCH 17, 2009 <br />Present: President of Council Kennedy, Council Members Barker, Brossard, <br />Gareau, Dailey Jones, Kearney, Mahoney, Orlowski <br />Also Present: Mayor O'Grady, Assistant Law Director O'Malley ,Finance Director <br />Copfer, Clerk of Council Seman <br />President Kennedy called the meeting to order at 8:03 p.m. in Council Chambers, 5200 <br />Dover Center Road, North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />Members of the audience were invited to join Council in the recitation of the Pledge of <br />Allegiance. <br />The minutes of the Council meeting of March 3, 2009 were approved as written. <br />President Kennedy announced the following legislation would be considered for passage <br />under suspension of the rules: first reading, Resolutions 2009-37, 2009-38, 2009-39, and <br />2009-40. <br />REPORTS <br />Mayor O'Grady: 1) Happy St. Patrick's Day to all. Best wishes as we celebrate Irish <br />heritage and the contribution Irish Americans have made to our city, region, state, and <br />nation. <br />2) Tomorrow he will be joining with thousands of U. S. mayors by participating in the <br />Mayors for Meals event. This is an annual national campaign designed to recruit new <br />volunteers and increase funding for the Meals on Wheels Association of America. <br />Hopefully, this will increase public awareness of the issue of senior hunger in our <br />community and throughout the region. Particularly during difficult times as these, he <br />encourages all of our citizens to volunteer and get involved in making our city and our <br />region a better place in which to live. <br />3) The annual North Olmsted Senior Center garage sale was a great success and over <br />$2,000 was raised. Thanks to Senior Center Administrator Chavez Anderson and the <br />incredible staff at the Senior Center. <br />4) The third annual North Olmsted American Cancer Society Relay for Life is scheduled <br />for June 20 at the high school stadium and track. In two years, this event has raised over <br />$140,000 for cancer research and associated programs. The next organizational meeting <br />is scheduled for 6:30 on Tuesday, April 14, at the Rec Center.
