Pole and Ground - A sign erected on a pole, poles <br />or posts an w ich is wholly independent of any <br />building for support. <br />5. Portable - A sign which is designed to be portable <br />o~emporary nature., not securely and/or permanently <br />anchored to the ground or to a building or structure <br />and which obtains some or all of its structural <br />stability with respect to wind or other normally <br />applied forces by means of its design or character. <br />6. Projecting - A display sign which is attached directly <br />to t e ullding wall, and which extends more than <br />fifteen inches (15") from the face of the wall. <br />7. Roof - A sign erected upon and completely over the <br />rood of any building. <br />8. Temporary - A sign constructed of cloth, fabric or <br />of e~ht temporary material with or without a <br />structural frame intended for a limited period of <br />display, including decoration displays for holidays <br />or public demonstrations. <br />9. Attraction Devices - Referring to animation, revolu- <br />tion, movement up and down or movement sideways, <br />windblown devices such as pennants, spinners, and <br />streamers. <br />1221.04 Measurement Standards <br />Standards to measure and compute the amount of sign area permitted <br />in the various districts are herein established, as follows: <br />(A) The total area of all signs permitted on a lot in <br />accordance with. regulations set forth in this Title <br />shall include: <br />1. The area o£ the faces yis~.b.le from a public way <br />of all permanent exterior signs, plus <br />2. The area wi hin an outline enclosing the lettering, <br />modeling or insignia of signs integral with a wall <br />and other signs not designed as a panel. <br />(B) The frontage of a building shall be the number of lineal <br />feet o t e aca e acing th.e principal street or con- <br />taining the main entrance of a store, office, service or <br />manufacturing building. <br />(C) The frontage of a lot not occupied by a building shall <br />be t e num er o lineal feet the lot abuts on the <br />principal street. <br />(D) Buildings or use having frontage on a second street may <br />include twenty percent (200) of the length of the facade <br />or the lot facing the second street, however, any additional <br />sign area allowed under 1221.Oh(D) as a result of the above, <br />shall only be used on the building side facing the second <br />street or on the portion of the same lot on the second <br />street. <br />
