<br />~'""~ <br /> <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0.2009 -142 <br />BY: Councilman Gareau <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 137.01 <br />(COMPOSITION) OF CHAPTER 137, ENTITLED <br />"DEPARTMENT OF LAW" OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE <br />CODE, IN ORDER TO ABOLISH THE POSITION OF FULL- <br />TIMEASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF LAW AND CREATE TWO <br />NEW PART-TIME ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF LAW <br />POSITIONS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AS <br />AMENDED.. <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Law-Elect has requested that this Council abolish the <br />position of full-time Assistant Director of Law and create two certain new part-time Assistant <br />Director of Law positions in the City Law Department, in order to better provide for the delivery <br />of legal services to the Mayor, Council, administrative officials, and the boards and commissions <br />of the City; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council, to provide for efficient and continuous <br />service within the Law Department, as requested by the Director of Law-Elect, by providing for <br />the abolishment of the position of full-time Assistant Director of Law and the creation of two <br />part-time Assistant Director of Law positions; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That Section 137.01 of the Administrative Code, which currently reads as <br />follows: <br />137.01 COMPOSITION <br />(a) The Law Department of the City, as provided for in Article V, Section 2 of the City <br />Charter, shall be headed by the Director of Law. The employees of the Department shall consist <br />of three assistant directors of law, a legal secretary and three law clerks, all of whom shall be <br />appointed by and under the supervision of the Director of Law. Each of the assistant directors of <br />law shall be an attorney in good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court and licensed to practice <br />law in the State of Ohio. The law clerks shall be law students at an accredited law school, or <br />graduates from an accredited law school. <br />(b) Two of the assistant directors of law shall be known as, respectively, the Assistant <br />Director of Law -Full Time, and the Assistant Director of Law -Part Time.
