<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2009 - 122 <br />By: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOL UTIONA UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OFPUBLIC <br />SERVICE TO MAKE APPLICATION FOR A LIVABLE <br />COMMUNITIES INITIATIVE GRANT FROM THE <br />NORTHEAST OHIO AREAWIDE COORDINATING AGENCY <br />(NOACA) FOR TECHNICAL SUPPORT IN IMPROVING THE <br />INTERSECTIONS/SIGNALS AT THE LORAIN-PORTER- <br />BUTTERNUT RIDGE ROAD AND LORAIN-BROOKPARK <br />ROAD INTERSECTIONS; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE <br />USE OF CITY FUNDS FOR A TWENTY PERCENT (20%) <br />MATCH; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO <br />ACCEPT THE GRANT, IF A WARDED, AND TO EXECUTE A <br />CONTRACT IF REQUIRED; FINALE Y A UTHORIZING THE <br />DIRECTOR OF SERVICE TO EXECUTE ALL OTHER NON- <br />CONTRACT DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE <br />RECEIPT OF THE GRANT, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency ("NOACA") is offering <br />grant funds for Livable Communities Initiatives, which supports planning activities that improve the <br />transportation network and strengthen community livability; and <br />WHEREAS, as part of this initiative, the Transportation for Livable Communities ("TLC") <br />Links program provides technical support by NOACA staff for community-based transportation <br />planning for small-scale traffic studies and improvements to system safety, efficiency and <br />preservation; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Engineer recommends applying for the following project: <br />Intersection/signal improvements for the Lorain-Porter-Butternut Ridge Road intersection and the <br />Lorain-Brookpark Road intersection; and <br />WHEREAS, the City must provide a twenty percent (20%) match; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Public Service to <br />apply for said NOACA Transportation for Livable Communities Initiative grant; to further authorize <br />the Mayor to accept the grant, if awarded, and to execute a contract if required; and to finally <br />authorize the Director of Public Service to execute all other non-contract documents necessary to <br />effectuate receipt of the grant; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />
