_:...., _???,4..,_ ?. _......_..,. . . _ <br />Amended Resolution No. 2001-157 <br />Page 2 <br />WHEREAS, the 2000 Dewatering Centrifuge Project schedule developed by the City of <br />North Olmsted included the acquisition and installation of certain support equipment in 2402 for <br />acquiring 1000/o process redundancy throughout the centrifuge dewatering unit process beyond <br />2001, and <br />WHEREAS, the March 22, 2001 Permit To Install(PTI) issued to the City of North <br />Olmsted by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (Ohio EPA) for the Yard Piping and <br />Sludge Loadout Building (SLB) Modifications Contract contained a condition that requires the <br />City of North Olmsted to purchase a second rotating assembly for the complete high speed, high <br />solids, solid bowl dewatering centrifuge system in 2001, and <br />WHEREAS, the Director af Public Service received a May 15, 2001 quotation from <br />Alfa-Laval Sharples in the amount of $186,000 for the manufacture and factory testing of a <br />second rotating assembly for the complete high speed, high solids, solid bowl dewatering <br />centrifuge system and delivery of said assembly to the North Olmsted Wastewater Treatmem <br />Plant, and <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service reviewed the May 15, 2001 Alfa-Laval <br />Sharples quotation, errtered into and completed negotiations with both Sherwood-Logan & <br />Associates, the original equipment manufacturer representative for the complete high speed, high <br />solids, solid bowl dewatering centrifuge system and Alfa-Laval Sharples regarding the May 15, <br />2001 quotation, and <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service received a June 19, 2001 quotation in the <br />amount of $146,500 from Sherwood-Logan & Associates, the original equipment manufacturer <br />representative for the complete high speed, high solids, solid bowl dewatering centrifuge system <br />for the manufacture and factory testing of a second rotaxing assembly for the complete high <br />speed, high solids, solid bowl dewatering centrifuge system and delivery of said assembly to the <br />North Olmsted Wastewater Treatment Plant, and <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Public Service received an October 19, 2001 letter from <br />Sherwood-Logan & Associates affirming that the 7une 19, 2001 quotation in the amount of <br />$146,500 for the manufacture and factory testing of a second rotating assembly for the complete <br />high speed, high solids, solid bowl dewatering centrifuge system and delivery of said assembly <br />to the North Olmsted Wastewater Treatment Plant remains a valid quotation, and <br />WHEREAS, the 2000 Dewatering Centrifuge Project budget estimated the cost for a <br />second rotating assembly for the complete high speed, high solids, solid bowl dewatering <br />centrifuge systern purchased by the City of North Olmsted in February 2001 to be approximately <br />$130,000 based on 2000 Alfa-Lava1 Sharples cost information, and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted can expect that the cost of a second rotating <br />assembly for the complete high speed, high solids, solid bowl dewatering centrifuge system <br />pwchased by the City of North Olmsted in February 2001 to increase by an additional5% to <br />10% after January 1, 2002, and
