,?.
1 r ? TECHNICAL APPROACH/SCOPE OF SERVICES
Task 1. Conduct site visit and air characterization program
A two-day site visit by Mr. Bowker and Mr. Webster is planned. The purpose of this visit is to
collect detailed information on the design and operation of the two odor control systems, and to
characterize the air streams entering the scrubbers.
Information to be collected and reviewed will include:
? • Design drawings (as-builts) for the odor control system
• Specifications
? • Logs of chemical usage
• Performance test reports
? • Routine monitoring data
• Recommended set-points
? • Summary of historical maintenance requirements
We will interview operations and maintenance staff to review and discuss information on
maintenance, performance monitoring, operational problems and other issues related to the
operation and performance of the odor control systems. .
We strongly recommend a limited air sampling program to characterize the inlet air streams to
the two wet scrubber systems. Although loadings can change dramatically based on seasonal
variations and operating conditions of the source process, it is essential to characterize the
odorous constituents to determine if the existing chemistry of the 2-stage scrubbers is
appropriate. It is also recommended that the scrubbers be operating during the site visit but that
no major modifications (e.g. packing replacement) be done prior to development of our
recommendations.
