Such shifts shall be filled as outlined in Section (S) above. <br />The 3rd shift shall be limited to no more than 3 empioyees. The City shall bid fhis <br />shift in two week blocks wifh a two week prior nofice. For fhose employees with <br />previousfy scheduled vacation, fhey sha(I be skipped for the duration of their <br />vacatian. <br />Secfian 2. The City may not reduce the weekly schedule of work for any department or <br />employee below forty (40) hours without the agreement ot the Union. This shafl not prevent <br />reduction or cancellation of scheduled hours of wark on a temporary basis if an emergency <br />occurs which is beyond the control of the City.. <br />Section 3. Empfoyees shall be aflowed not fess than thirty (30) uninterrupted minutes for a <br />scheduled lunch period daily except for other schedufes mutualiy agreed upan wifih the Unian. <br />Secfian 4. There shall be two (2) fiftaen (15) minute rest periods on each shift, each work day. <br />Twa resf periods, to the extent practicable, wi(i be schedufed during the rniddle two (2) hours of <br />each shift, but they may not be schedu(ed immediateiy before or after the meal period or at the <br />star# ar errd of a shifE. The rest periods are to be taken at the employee's job location, but one <br />member oi a crew an the road, may, whsn it is possibie to do so without terminating the <br />operation of the crew, leave the area to obtain refreshments at the nearest avaifable source for <br />himse(f and other members af the crew to be consumed at the job focation. <br />(a) When an emp.loyee in the Wasfe Water Treatmenf Piant is to work an aciditional <br />full ar half shift, the employee nas the right to leave the piant without Ioss of pay <br />for up to thirty (30) minufes to obtain a meal and obtain food for lunch in the over <br />time shift if he is to work a fufl shift. <br />(b) When an empfayee in the Service Department is an an overtime assignment the <br />employee is provided a paid thirty (30) minute funch, after approximateiy four (4) <br />hours of overtime if he is to continue work. <br />(c) When employees in the Senrice Deparfinent are on an overtime assignmenf for <br />snow removal or salfing, or similar emergency work, they are directed by <br />supervision either to obtain food and bring it back to the yard where it can be <br />eaten while the truck is reloaded or refueled, or they can eaf on the road. These <br />meal opportunities are provided as circumstances; including the severity of a <br />storm permit, except that the City guarantees a thirty (30) minuie paic[ lunch <br />period after approximately four (4) <br />11
