EXHtSIT B-9 <br />JOB CLASSIFICATION MA1hITENANCE HELPER <br />RESPDNSIBLE TQ NiRINTENAPtCE FOREMAN <br />CHARACTERESTIC L?UTtES OF THE CLASSIFlCATlON; <br />This is a semi-skilfed and Iimited skilled work in construction, repair and grounds af the municipa( <br />wastewater pumping stations and treatment plant. <br />Work involves respansibi(ity for assisting in the maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery <br />and related appurtenances at the wastewater pumping stations and treatmenf piant; other duties include <br />acfing as a relief aperator and perforrning building maintenance and custodial duties when required. Usually <br />maintenance work is performed under the immediate supervision of an employee af a higher classification. <br />Assignments are determined by breaKdowns of machinery and equipment; however, roufine work is <br />performed with fittle or direct supervision. Technical assistance is readily available far he(p in unusual or <br />cfifFiculf probiems. Work is viewed through inspections and by observations af results. <br />EXAIUfPLES QF WORK. <br />d Laacis and unloads heavy materials from truck; moves and assists in moving heavy machinery and <br />equipment. <br />Performs general building and grounds maintenance and cusfodial tasks including painting; shovefing <br />snow and repairing windows when required. <br />Assists in the mainfenance.and repair of piant machinery and equipment; such as, pumps, chlorinators, <br />and chemical feeders; insfafls and rep(aces new gauges and pressure switches on panels when <br />necessary. <br />Operaies elecfiric pumping stafion in emergencies; inspects purnping stations as required for proper <br />operafion when required. <br />= Assists operatars and rnecnanics in the operation and repair af pumping stations and treatment. <br />? Maybe assigned to operate pumping station or treatmenf plant on assigned shift far refief or emergency <br />situations. <br />Occasionally operafes (ight automotive equipmenf, such as trucks, front end loaders, and tractors. <br />Subject to 24- haur cali during emergency situafions. <br />54
