and/or weaken #he Grievance Procedure are irnproper. The Grievance Procedure shail not be <br />used or attempted to be used as a means to present issues that are nat relevant to the <br />provisions of this Agreement or attempt to use the Grievance Procedure to modify any term, <br />condition or pravision contained wifhin this Agreement. <br />Section 2: A grievance is a dispute or difference between fhe City and the Union, or <br />between the City and an employee, concerning the interpretation or app(ication and/or <br />compliance with the terms of this Agreement and shall include disputes concerning discipfinary <br />actions, iNhen any such grievances arise, the foflowing procedure shall be observed; <br />All grievances sha[I be written and fiied on an Official Grievance Form. The Official <br />Grievance Form shall be provided to the employees by the Union and shall contain the <br />foliowing information at the time the grievance is filed in substantial compliance there with; <br />• The dafe the grievance occurred; <br />• The tirne the grievance occurred; <br />o Provide a detailed description of the incident giving rise to the grievance; <br />e Cite specific Articles and Sectians of the Agreement involved and their direct relationship to <br />the incident; <br />• Relief Requested; <br />• Name and signature of the employee and the date signed by the employee; <br />• Name and signature of the Steward and the date signed by fhe Steward; <br />St_ ep 9: An employee who has a griAvance shall reduce it to writing and the grievance shall <br />be presented to the immediate supervisor by his steward; in the presence of the employee, <br />within seven (7) working days after the employee iearned. or should have fearned of the event <br />upon which the grievance is based. The grievance shall be presented within the last fifteen (15) <br />minutes or the empioyees respective shift. The supervisor shall meet with the employee or the <br />employee.and his steward within seven (7) working days. The supervisor shall give an answer <br />in wri'ting to the participants involved in the initial meeting within seven (7) working days <br />following the date of the grievance discussion. The affected employee shalf be required to <br />attend the aforementioned meeting. <br />St2p 2: If the empioyee's grievance is nat satisfacforily settled at Step 1, the grievance <br />shall be submitted to the Department Director within seven (7) working days after the Step f <br />9
