JOB DESCRIPTION: <br />POSITION T(TLE: BUILD{NG INSPECTOR <br />RESPONSIBLE T0: BUILDING COMMISSIONER <br />DESCR(PTION QF DUT(ES: <br />1. Make field inspecti6ns to defermine that construcfion and alterafion work being done complies wifh the City <br />Building Code and Zoning Ordinances. <br />2, Checks the quality of materia(s and mefhods of construction. <br />3. Consults with Builders and others regarding compliance with the Building laws. <br />4. Works independently, making own final decisions, <br />5. Work is subject to periodic check. . <br />6. Reviews pians filed with applications far compliance with the City Zoning Law and Building Gode. <br />7: Inspects ali construction, demolition, antl repair of buildings in fhe City for safety from fire and collapse and <br />for confirmation to height and area requirements, <br />8. Checks buildings during constructian for size and depth of footings, size and type of materials used for <br />walis, si(Is, beams, joists, bracing, fiooring, roofing, lathing and plastering. <br />9. Inspects soil for its suitability for faundations. <br />10. Issues stop work orders when necessary. <br />11. Gives informafion to builders and others regarding requirements of the law. <br />12. Makes final inspecfiions of cornpleted bui(dings giving occupancy approval for City. <br />13. lnspects fences, signs, and concrete work, for compliance with the zoning and building laws. <br />14. Makes written reporfs concerning inspecfions made. <br />15. Performs ofher related work as assigned. <br />69
