Mr. Paul W. Deichmann, P.E.
July 25, 2001
Page 2
telephone and sanitary utilities;
b. Signal Details, including: Pole charts, phasing diagrams, timing charts,
coordination timing, wiring diagrams, interconnect layout and loop detector
charts;
Interconnect cable design coordination with utility companies may be
considered a separate design activity, if it becomes substantial as required by
the utility companies, until an agreeable scope of that work can be defined.
This includes any "walkouts" with the respected utility companies if required.
Fee for this particular activity will be negotiated at a later date if needed;
d. Quantities & Summaries;
e. Traffic Control Notes;
f. Bid specifications incorporated into a project rnanual which will include the
advertisement, instructions to bidders, general conditions, bid forms, bond
requirements, prevailing wage rates, affidavits and other miscellaneous forms
required for a bidding document;
g. Estimate of Probable Construction Costs;
h. Twelve sets of plans and manuals shall be furnished to the City for bidding
purposes.
TIME SCHEDULE
Services will begin promptly following authorization to proceed. The services are estimated to
require eight (8) weeks to complete, excluding reviews. We propose that the Ciry procure the mast
arm poles prior to the bidding of the project. The selected construction contractor would then be
required to install the poles furnished by the City to reduce the waiting time for pole delivery. We
propose to provide a signal support schedule in which the City may obtain quotes in approximately
4 weeks from start of design services.
PERSONNEL ASSIGNED TO PROJECT
Michael W. Schweickart, P.E. will act as project manager/project engineer for the project. He will
coordinate all design activities and serve as the project contact to the City. Because we utilize a
"team" approach to design signal systems, our entire engineering staff will provide design input to
final design. Mike will be available throughout the design process to answer any questions regarding
plan content and intent during bidding and construction.
C: \ WINDO W S\Desktop\Proposal s\North01 m stedpr02. wp d
