CITY OF N(?rI, , H Ob.MSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2001-74 <br />BY: MAYOR MUSIAL AND COUNCII, MEMBERS DAILEY, LIlVIPERT, AND O'GRADY. <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION TO <br />THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED OF <br />AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE IX OF THE CHARTER OF <br />THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, ENTITLED <br />"NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS," IN ORDER TO <br />PROVIDE FOR NON-PARTbSAN ELECTIONS IN THE CTI'Y <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Cou.ncil of the City of North Olmsted, County of <br />Cuyahoga, State of Ohio, two-thirds of all members concurring that: <br />SECTION 1. Pursuant to Article XVIII, Section 9 of the Ohio Constitution, and <br />Article XII of the Charter of the City of North Olmsted, this Council authorizes and directs that the <br />following proposal to amend the Charter of the City of North Olmsted be submitted to the electors <br />of the City of North Olmsted at an election to be held at the usual places of voting in the City on <br />Tuesday, November 6, 2001: <br />That Article IX of the Charter, entitled "Nominations and Elections," be amended in <br />order to provide far non-partisan elections to be held 'm all candidate elections in the future m the City <br />of North Olmsted, and, as amended, shall read in its entirety as follows: <br />ARTICLE IX <br />NOMINATIONS ANID ELECTIONS <br />SEC. 1. 1VIUNICIl'AL ELECTIONS. <br />A general election for the choice of elective officers provided for in this Charter shall be held <br />on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November in odd numbered years. Elections so held <br />shall be known as regular municipal elections. Such other elections shall be held as may be required <br />by law, or provided for in this Charter. <br />SEC. 2. NOMINATIONS. <br />Each petition for the nomination of a candidate for the office of Mayor, President of Council, <br />Director of Finance, Director of Law, and Council-at-Large shall be signed by not fewer than one <br />hundred (100) electors of the municipality. Each petition for the nomination of a candidate for an <br />office designating the election by ward shall be signed by not fewer than twenty-five (25) electors <br />from the designated ward.
