(b) Lots With 50 Feet or Less Frontage on an Existing Street. (Amended) In the event <br />the application for a building permit as required under the provisions of the <br />Dwelling Code involves the proposed construction or alteration of any <br />dwelling or appurtenant structure on a lot having fifty feet or less froirtage <br />on an existing street, such application shall, in addition to the provisions of <br />subsection (a) hereof be referred to the Engineering Department who shall <br />determine prior to the approval of the application for a permit for such <br />premises, that the proposed construction or alteration does not affect <br />drainage of surface water or waste unto or over adjoining property or into <br />any public street as may be injurious to the public safety, health or welfare <br />and complies with the retention requirements of the Engineering <br />Department. <br />(c) Exposed Exterior Masonry Walls. Exposed exterior walls of masonry construction <br />above grade shall be faced with brick, stone or other material hereafter <br />approved by the Boazd of Building Code Appeals. <br />(d) Chimneys. Flues and Vents. <br />(1) All chimneys, flues and gas vents, that are exterior of the structure and <br />terminate above the roof line causing them to be viewable from a <br />public way, shall be enclosed in a corrosion resistant material that <br />simulates a conventional masonry chimney. <br />(2) In lieu of above, an enclosure compatible with exterior architectural <br />elements of the structure shall enclose the metal chimney, flue or gas <br />vent. <br />(3) Definitions of a chimney, flue or gas vent are as follows: <br />A. "Chimney" means a primarily vertical masonry or reinforced <br />concrete shaft which encloses one or more flues. <br />B. "G-as vent" means a flue for removing products of <br />combustion from gas heat appliances. <br />C. "Flue" means a passageway, vertical or nearly so for <br />conveying gaseous products of combustion to the outer air. <br /> <br />
