Box 65312
3605 South West Temple
Salt Lake City, Utah 84165-0312
Subject: Request for Proposal for Professional- Services Regarding Aeration
Process Evaluation of the North Olmsted Wastewater Treatment
Plant
Dear Mr. Albertson:
Ed Boyle, Mayor
Phone: (216) 777-8000
The purpose of this letter is to request three copies of a draft work plan and a technical
and cost proposal for:
1. An evaluation of the existing single stage activated sludge aeration unit process
currently in operation at the City's wastewater treatmept plant; and
2. A report documenting the aeration unit process evaluation and containing any
recommendations for future capital and non-capital improvements which may reduce
the periodic excessive growth of Nocazdia, Type 021N and Microthrix parvicella
bacteria in aeration unit process.
An aeration unit process evaluation is being requested at this time since the WWTP has
been in operation for one and one half years following a $2.8 million improvement. The goal of
the 1995 improvements were to bring the plant into compliance as quickly as possible and to
eliminate the excessive operation and maintenance problems of the aeration unit process. This
goal was met by the following design objectives:
1. Eliminating the continuous low Dissolved Oxygen (DO) conditions in the aeration
unit process;
2. Providing reliable and controllable aeration blower operation and control;
3. Providing 50 percent more final clarification capacity; and
4. Eliminating poor final clarification solids/liquid flow splitting.
I1~
~•r
5200 Dover Center Road
North Olmsted, Ohio 44070
.~,~,r
.,,.~~.,
