CITY OF NORTIi OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 98-144 <br />BY: MAYOR NORMAN MUSIAL <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 11 OF ORDINANCE NO. 98-32, ENTITLED <br />"AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING RATES OF COMPENSATION FOR VARIO US <br />ADMINISTXATAIVE AND LEGISLATIVE PERSONNEL AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY, " SO AS TO PROVIDE AN INCREASE IN THE UPPER SALARY <br />RANGE FOR THE POSITION pF ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF AND TO FURTHER <br />PROVIDE FOR THIS CHANGE TO BE RETROACTIVE TO JANUARY 1, 1998, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 98-32, passed on May 6, 1998, provided for salary ranges <br />for various administrative and legislative personnel of the City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the Administration that, as a result <br />of a new collective bargaining agreement entered into between the City and the Union <br />representing North Olmsted police officers, the salaries of police captains now exceed that <br />provided for the assistant fire chief in Ordinance No. 98-32; and <br />WHEREAS, in the past this Council has attempted to maintain the salary for the <br />assistant fire chief at a level no lower than that provided for police department captains; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to amend Section 11 of Ordinance No. 98- <br />32 in order to raise the upper salary range for the position of assistant fire chief to an amount <br />which is equal to that provided for police captains, and to make this amendment retroactive to <br />January 1, 1998, so that, for the year 1998, the assistant fire chief may receive a salary which <br />will be equal to that paid to police captains in the same year; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />
