JOB DESCRIPTION: <br />POSITION TITLE: <br />RESPONSIBLE TO: <br />DESCRIPTION OF DUTlES• <br />BUILDING 1NSPECTOR <br />BUILDING COMMiSSIONER <br />1. Make fieid inspectibns to determine that construction and alteration work being done . <br />complies with the City Building Code and Zoning Ordinances. <br />2. Checks the quality of materials and methods of construction. <br />3. Consults with Builders and others regarding compliance with the Building laws. <br />4. Works independently, making own final decisions. <br />5. Work is subject to periodic check. <br />6. Reviews plans filed with applications for compliance with the City Zoning Law and <br />Building Code. <br />7. Inspects all construction, demolition, and repair of buildings in the City for safety from fire <br />and copapse and for confirmation to height and area requirements. <br />8. Checks buildings during construction for size and depth of footings, size and type of <br />materials used for walls, sills, beams, joists, bracing, flooring, roofing, lathing andplastering. <br />9. Inspects soil for its suitability for foundations. <br />10. Issues stop work orders when necessary. <br />11. Gives information to builders and others regarding requirements of the law. <br />12. Makes final inspections of completed buildings giving occupancy approval for City. <br />13. Inspects fences, signs, and cvncrete work, for compliance with the zoning and building laws. <br />14. Makes written reports concerning inspections made. 15. Performs other related work as assigned. <br /> <br />-6 7-
