? <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 98-82 <br />BY: Councilman O'Grady and Councilman Limpert <br />A RESOLUTION CALLING UPON THE OHIO DEPARTMENT <br />OF TRANSPORTATION, THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY <br />ENGINEER AND THE NORTHEAST OHIO AREAWIDE <br />COORDINATING AGENCY TO MAINTAIN THE CURRENT <br />START DATE SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 2001 FOR THE <br />CROCKER-STEARNS EXTENSION DUE TO THE <br />IlVIPORTANCE OF THIS PROJECT FOR THE PEOPLE OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, AND TBE PEOPLE OF OUR SURROUNDING <br />COMMUNITIES, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AS <br />AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, the people of the City of North Olmsted overwhelmingly approved <br />this project in November of 1988 by a margin of 11,637 votes for and 4,157 votes against; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, there is not a major north-south connector between Interstate 480 <br />and Interstate 90 in the western portion of Cuyahoga County; and <br />WHEREAS, the lack of a major north-south connector has created a hardship for <br />the citizens of North Olmsted and surrounding communities due to an extremely heavy <br />volume of traffic on Porter Road, Barton Road and Bradley Road; and <br />WHEREAS, the lack of a major north-south connector has created a hardship for <br />the citizens of North Olmsted and surrounding communities due to a high volume of rush- <br />hour, cut-through traffic in the Bretton Ridge, Forest Ridge and West Park housing <br />communities; and <br />WHEREAS, it is understood that it is incumbent upon the County to establish a <br />schedule of construction and funding for the Crocker-Stearns extension; and <br />WHEREAS, the attached Cuyahoga County Work Schedule dated 7/9/98 was <br />provided to the City of North Olmsted with a NTP (Notice to Proceed) date of 8/22/0 1; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the North Olmsted City Council wishes to see this schedule <br />adhered to; and <br />
